Qmet Tech Foundation has been set up as a Section-8 company (not-for-profit) by IIT Bombay under the National Quantum Mission (NQM), being implemented by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. Under the Human Resource Development initiative, the Quantum Sensing and Metrology T-Hub (QSM T-Hub) is committed to bridging the existing gaps in the field of Quantum Technologies and Applications (QTA), with a focus on advancing quantum sensing, metrology, and related domains. Through a series of targeted initiatives, fellowships, and training programs, QSM T-Hub seeks to equip students, researchers, and professionals with the necessary skills to drive innovation, solve industry problems, and foster entrepreneurship in this rapidly evolving field.
Qmet PARIMANA (Program for Advanced Research in Imaging, Metrology, And Nano-scale Applications of Quantum Sensing) Fellowship is an initiative under the National Quantum Mission (NQM) with a focus on human resource development. The proposed program aims to strengthen academia-industry linkages and build a skilled workforce in Quantum Technologies and Applications (QTA). The UG program will provide engineering and technical students with hands-on internships, enabling them to tackle real-world industry challenges, including those faced by industry, and gain practical experience in quantum sensing and metrology (QSM). The PG program will create a pool of trained professionals proficient in QTA, especially in QSM, ready to contribute to emerging sectors. The PhD fellowship will support in-depth, independent research to generate new scientific knowledge and technological solutions, fostering innovation in QTA.
Applications are invited from UG, PG and PhD students with the project proposals in the following areas:
| Application Areas | Technology Areas |
|---|---|
| Time keeping | Atomic clocks (cesium, optical, ion clocks) |
| Gravity sensing | Atom interferometers, quantum gravimeters |
| Navigation (GPS-free) | Quantum gyroscopes, accelerometers |
| Biomedical imaging & diagnostics | NV centers in diamond |
| Magnetic/electric field sensing | Atomic sensors, squid-based sensors etc. |
| Precision measurement | Optomechanical sensors, superconducting resonators |
| Quantum Imaging | Quantum enhanced sensing |
Note: The consumables and contingency fund can be utilized for covering the cost of domestic travel and stay of the student, consumables, and conference/course registrations. The grant cannot be used for capital expenditure.
